What is L.E.A.N. Essentials?

L.E.A.N. Essentials is a session based on the L.E.A.N. Start Program. It was designed for parents with children ages 3-12. This is an introductory session for parents who are unable to commit to 6-weeks of sessions or are uncertain about the concept of nutrition.

L.E.A.N. Essentials Overview

L.E.A.N. Essentials is a one-time session and is designed to take no more than 2 hours to cover 8 sections. (Each section should take approximately 15 minutes to complete.) During the session, a short clip from the L.E.A.N. Start Video will be shown and a snack will be served.

L.E.A.N. Essentials Segments

There are 8 segments in the L.E.A.N. Essentials session. Each segment is started with a question, followed by an activity related to the topic, and concluded with a review of the topic.

The segments covered are:

  • Traffic Light Eating
  • Why is breakfast important?
  • The Skinny on Fat
  • How much protein is enough?
  • Play helps kids grow!
  • How much sugar?
  • Know the No’s
  • Myth Busters
